Default NVidia GT220 and Ubuntu 10.04 ALSA 1.0.23 driver 256.29 - No sound on HDMI

First of all, i'm just starting with linux(beginner) and i'm building an HTPC.(Ubuntu+XBMC)
I purchased an NVidia GT220 videocard and i want to use audio over HDMI.

i searched and googled a lot and whatever i do, i don't get it to work.
i installed Ubuntu 10.04, installed the latest nvidia driver v256.29, using ALSA 1.0.23.
tried all the option on: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title...T220,_or_GT240
with no luck.

aplay -l gives:

aplay -Dplughw:1,3 -fcd /fdata/testjazz.wav
Playing WAVE '/fdata/testjazz.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Stereo
No sound !

I also tried to install ubuntu 9.10 with official stable v195 NVidia drivers and alsa v1.0.23, but no sound on the HDMI.

Like i said in the beginning, i'm an linux beginner, at this point i could use some help, i don't know what to do next.
