Default Project Corrado

Thought some of you might be interested. So I'll post the start of my project here.

Basically, I am turbocharging my 1993 VW Corrado VR6. Should be capable of 450whp+ easy.

So far I just have a growing pile of parts. Waiting for the remaining few before I start tear down and assembly.

Anyways, pics.

Precision HP6262, T4, .68 A/R

Snow Performance Stage 2 Water/Methanol Injection

Bosch 42# Injectors

South Bend Stage 3 clutch

DRC 268 Cams

ARP Head Studs

Lightweight Lifters

Bosch 044 Fuel pump

Heavy duty valve springs and titanium retainers

Intercooler and some piping

C2 Motorsports 8.5:1 Head spacer

C2 Motorsports Turbo Manifold

Polished 4" MAF housing for the lulz.

All that and more is going into this.

Finally started the tear down... yay...

Anyways, got this far in about <1 hour. Found some interesting stuff...

Looks all good right?

Until...

Camshaft failure?!?! All the lobes have wear like that one, some less, some more. Good thing I bought new cams.

Just waiting for a part to come, should be here next week.

That block/head looks similar to the veyrons, that's a v-16 though ofc but the layout looks very similar to what one cylinderbank looks like -2 cylinders.Bugatti is owned by vw and the veyron is designed and built by them, perhaps some design elements of your engine carried over ? Good luck with the build.

It's basically half of a W12, or the W12 is 2 VR6's stuck together, whichever way you want to look at it.

But yeah, the veyron is the same concept, just more cylinders.

Ah the mad Golf concept car that jeremy drove on top gear, cool.Did that engine ever make it into a production car or was it only a showpiece ?

EDIT: Nvm ,i found the Vw Phaeton 450 HP w12,never even heard of that before.

Maybe I should update this thread? lol.

I guess you could say... I made some headway.

phone pic:

Clutch in, transmission back in, head spacer and head back on. Now just doing some mock up for tube routing.

Ignore the ****ty welds. I have to fix my welder... It won't feed the wire consistently.
