BF2 is better in every way, except in graphics environment.
Maps in BF2are much better designed with many points of contact
Nothing so far can not match the atmosphere of invasion in Wake Island map (planes, helicopters with Special Forces teams with the mission of the radar destruction, boats...) even the super BFBC2 graphics
Much fairer comparison would be between BFBC2 and BF2 Special Force, two more similar games.

and yes, I have forgotten the role of the commander in the entire chaos of BF2

BFBC2 = mutilated and crippled BF2 with graphics improvement.

BC2 has awesome destruction but I find the gameplay lacks the 200+ hour replayability of BF2 even though one game has more unlocks. I think the problem is related to the maps more than anything else.

In truth though I prefer 2142 to all.

2142 > 2 > BC2

My gameplay hours reflect this fact.

BF2 I played for months
BF:BC2 I played for about a week or 2

Honestly I would still be BF2 up to this date if it wasn't for all the hackers/cheaters. I was very surprised to find BF:BC2 lacked hackers/cheaters for the most part. Cant say the same for BF2. Great game. Terrible security.

BF2 by miles...The graphics may be dated compared to bfbc2 but the gameplay and the maps are soo much better.

I do hope that when DICE release BF3 that it is a true succesor to BF2 and not some console dumbed down game.
