Default Xinerama breaks Xrandr

I have two monitors. I would like one to work in landscape orientation, and one to work in portrait orientation. This of course excludes TwinView.

Anyway, I had it set up for two independent screens, with RandRRotation enabled in xorg.conf, and 'xrandr -d :0.1 -o left' in my .xinitrc. This worked well, except that I cannot drag windows from one screen to another.

So I enabled Xinerama. I had no problems dragging windows from one desktop to another, but now xrandr is broken. Not only will it not rotate, it will not resize, or even query. Any invocation of xrandr gives me this:

Code:
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
RandR extension missing
However, looking through my Xorg.0.log tells me that RandR is enabled. I have attached the output from nvidia-bug-report.sh. Please let me know what I can do to fix this. Thanks.

The X server doesn't support Xinerama and RandR at the same time. You can use the "Rotate" option in xorg.conf to rotate individual screens in a Xinerama setup, but you can't configure their rotation dynamically.

Crap. I lose acceleration (even 2D!) with the Rotate option in xorg.conf, don't I? Not very useful for vertical shootemups.

Guess I'm stuck with two separate screens until nVidia deems it worth their while to release a driver with Xrandr 1.2 (or 1.3) support. I'm really regretting not going with ATI right now, as they've had Xrandr 1.2 for almost 2 years.

I guess the upside is that with two separate screens it's easy to get a distinct set of virtual desktops on each head.
