The chances of bricking an Android device are infinitely small. If you don't believe, go to www.androidforums.com and do a search for "brick". Many threads will come up where people THINK they have bricked their phone, but I don't recall ever seeing one where people from the forum were not able to help the person get their phone back.

As to the warranty, this is technically true, however in my first hand experience, this is not the case. For example, my brother's screen died on his Droid. We took it in to VZW, I flat out told them it was rooted, and they didn't care. They just replaced the Droid. That said, I will add this to my warning in the first post...Thanks!

I don't have a droid (yet), but my windows mobile HTC is unlocked and bootloader patched.

I update firmware on it every month or every other month.

for my windows mobile roms I got to XDA forums, they also have tons or android roms, modded roms can sometimes look really different from standard rom, with custom themes etc..

And as long as you get it from reliable source they are safe as well. I almost always get them from same author.

stop acting like a clueless ATT rep, chances of pernamently bricking your device are slim to none.

even if rom update fails fro some reason, you enter bootloader safe mode and simply try again.

You will not loose senseui if you root. If you get into loading different roms, then you have to check to see if the rom includes Sense, or uses a stock rom. There are both available AFAIK...

i rooted my HTC Desire the day i got it.. i like to be able to access system files and the recovery features are impressive..

I rooted my Aria to get Live Wallpapers on it. Im using the Liberated Rom from XDA.

Haven't tried this yet but it looks nice. An all-in-one rooting and flash program. I'm scared to do it first. Someone else do it and let me know how it worked.

I just intalled the Rubix focused 0.5 blurless ROM for the Droid X through Rom Manager and man it FLIES. I thought my phone was fast before, but now it's crazy.

The ROM comes deodexed so I went ahead and installed the Galaxy S theme for the droid X. Very sick.
