How to profile GPU & memory utilization in realtime while running a vdpau decoder ?

Sorry, there aren't any APIs that provide processing or memory usage information.

What about GL_NVX_gpu_memory_info ?
It should be able to tell you how much VRAM is in use (not VDPAU specific though).

I'm not sure whether that reports absolute GPU memory usage, or GPU memory usage by just the OpenGL driver in that particular process; I imagine the documentation should say.

The former ... I wrote a simple tool to track memory usage a while ago and I am pretty sure that there is no way for it to have been using 200MB of VRAM
