Over-volting with MSI Afterburner

So I picked up an MSI GTX 470. My logic is telling me that if they include software to over-volt and over-clock your card it must not be voiding the warranty (I know in the past, and with other manufacturers that's not true)..... Is this just a pipe-dream or are they really going to honor their warranty if I over-volt?

I'd love to ge ta chance to play with this over-clocked. I've seen amazing results with people pushing GTX 480 performance with a 470

I contacted MSI today to get an answer and I'm very pleased to say that their stance is the same as eVGA's

MSI Tech. 07/12/2010 Overclocking via software will not void the video card's warranty. However, any hardware modifications will void the warranty.

I realize a 3 year warranty in this industry is relatively bad.... but I think if I get 3 years out of this card with what I'm about to do to it I'm going to be extremely happy

But if you are like me ,I never keep a card for three years .I have two MSI GTX 470's and they do overclock very good even without useing the over volting.Mine will do around 775,3700 and when overvolting it will do 824/3900.But it will only let you go up to 1.087v .

Yes.... I am like you, I don't keep a card for that long anyway. I've had a 7800 GTX for about 3 years, and I have (but its only being used as a backup / CAD machine) a 6800 GT (softmodded to a Quadro 4000 which I've had for about 5 years..... either way though neither are a "main" machine of mine and I definitely wouldn't be heartbroken if they died.

I don't actually expect to keep my rig for much more than 1 or 2 more years.... the whole thing will then be retired to a file / media / game server at which point it'll become a LAN party spare... The GTX 470 was really just to tide me over until I do a full rebuild in a year or so

MSI is awesome...

800 core (almost 200mhz over) and over-volted.... I'm pushing the performance of a 480 with only $300 out of pocket.... and its not voiding the warranty.

They're damn good cards for sure. I got this 480 sitting at 840 on the core and 2135 on the memory, perfectly stable, with only a slight voltage increase.

I lucked out and got my MSI GTX 470 for $279.99 with a game and free shipping,so I bought two .I see they went up to $349 and now they are back to $299 with a free game.This card is the best for ( Bang for the Bulk) you can get.Overclocks great ,fast and no where as noisesy as reviews have made it out to be.
