I don't think it will bottleneck that much. But someone can test it and post here. Maybe a Q9550@3.8 and @4.2 to see any improvements and make sure if is bottlenecking or not.

I just went to an i7 930 from a Q9450 and I can tell I was very much bottlenecked with just a single 5870. Clock per clock the i7s are just better and overall I think they overclock better, especially when compared to a processor on the 750i chipset maybe not so much P45. It would probably be a real challenge to get it to 4.2 ghz. 1920x1200 seems to be very much a resolution that is on the borderline of graphic and processing needs. It depends which application you're running whether or not you'll be CPU bottlenecked, but overall I think you will be.
But put it this way I'm liking core i7 and x58 and not missing nvidia chipset motherboards at all ![]() |

I think some of you guys are underestimating the later C2Q. If you have a look at the benchmarks they are neck and neck with the I7 in games. They are actually quicker in some games.

The 750i/780i boards are essentially 680i motherboards with an Nforce 200 chipset to allow more high bandwidth PCIE lanes. The P45 has upgraded memory controllers, etc. Not to mention DDR3 capability.

Yes typically people with P45 motherboards can push their processors farther and have fewer issues.

I upgraded from the q9550 to the i7 870, overclocked it to 4Ghz and noticed a huge difference in the games I play. Especially GTA 4. All settings maxxed, doesn't drop below 40fps.
