hi to all i think the nvidia physx is fake bcz i have 3-WAY SLI ZOTAC GTX480 TRI SLI and i instaled EVGA PRECISION and i was enabled the gpu temp and gpu usage and memory usage and frame per sec. in all three cards and i see all the games use physx technology like DARK VOID or METRO 2033 or Wolfschanze II or or or or i see the same performanc and i use two way sli and the card No. 3 dedicated for PHYSX then i see the card No. 1 and the card No.2 in evga precision gpu usage is work but the card No.3 (( didecated card for PHYSX )) is 0 mean zero GPU usage why?????that mean the CPU do the physx not the didecated card just one game the card work in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 i see the card No. 3 is work mean didecated card what that mean plz? and who can i run the relly PHYSX ????
and i see some thing not all games use the SLI techno. y?
and who i can use all games in 3-WAY SLI PLZ HELP ME THANKZ TO ALLLLLL.

It definitely makes a huge difference in titles that implement it well. For example in Batman AA or Cryostasis I saw it spike up to 50-80% useage on my 9800 GTX when I had that and was using it for physx.

You have to realize only a handful of games use it, and they only use it in very certain spots, usually involving debris (broken glass), clothe objects (banners, flags), water, or smoke / fog.

Also evga precision never showed any gpu useage on my 9800 gtx until I overclocked it. It's a bug with evga precision. It wouldn't show it any useage until I changed the clock speed (even if it was overclocked and I rebooted it). I tested it using Folding@Home and had the same results.

So either;
A) The scenes you're examining aren't using physx
B) eVGA precision is bugging out like it was with me
C) You have it set to cpu in the nvidia control panel (i'd assume this isn't happening)

Physx definitely has an effect on games. I do believe that nvidia exhagerates it by having severly un-optimized code for cpus in contrast to gpus.... but the effects and level of detail it adds is great, especially in games like Batman AA or Cryostasis.

I believe that Physx could be offloaded to one of the CPU's cores and be just as effective. You don't NEED a GPU for it, but Nvidia makes it that way.

Its not fake, but its by no means necessary. I'd rather see havok use my 4 cores than a game with PhysX needing a second GPU for decent performance. Nvidia is beating a dead horse with PhysX. It will never take off and become what they think it will.

Well.... you do. The problem with physics calculations in general is they're spikey. Having tons of particles or fluidity to water / cloth takes way too many cycles to calculate. That's why highly parallel things like gpus work for it.

It's impossible to run something like nvidia fluid physics demo without something highly parallel. I think they purposely blow the programming out of proportion to make it necessary.

Really though, there's no way at all to do that many calculations on only a quad core cpu.

It'll take a long time for that to change.

I think we need to see a screenshot of the control panel (Multi GPU) page I believe. With the latest drivers you can allocate a GPU to carry out all the physx or dynamically allocate?

Driver versions of vid and physX etc will help trying to diagnose the problem as well.

I am sure all the websites/magazines that have done physx testing/benching can't be wrong!

As long as you're getting good performance why worry about it? Now if you're having some performance issues then maybe you should be alarmed.
