hmmm.... other than your video card, your computer is about the same as mine. Perhaps SC2 doesn't like the 2GPU on 1 card SLi?

Those are single cards, I'm running two 480's. Even so, the single 480 only took about a 15% hit at 1900x1200 and I'm at 19x10 so my hit was even less.

Im running the game at 1920x1200 with all ingame settings maxed, Runs smooth as silk & looks really nice but i would like atleast 8x AA!

Ok so i know theses no built in AA support but even when i add the Starcraft.exe and use nvidia control panel override AA still aint working for me ingame.

Anybody else got AA working? If so how?

Creating a profile for SCII and using the settings don't work for some reason. You have to use the General control panel in order to get AA to work.

Wow, went 5-0 in my placement matches, stuck me in Platinum (I was a Silver league player in 1v1 during beta). Played most of the day again. I don't think I'm going to get sick of this game. Finished the campaign this morning and it's really great; plus replaying on Hard is next on my list.

honestly the placement matches are really stupid. 5 matches among 1 million players doesn't at all tell what your skill level is. You could play against 5 people who suck or 5 people who are pro gamers.

I went 3-2 on my placement matches and they put me in Bronze. After going on an 11 game winning streak I ranked up to Silver, and then up to Gold. I imagine it'll be a little more difficult to rank up to Plat, and I don't even want to be in Diamond. I imagine those people are insane.

Zelda, it dosn't stop there. As you play, your skill level goes up and down, so if you lose some matches, it drops you a notch. It is a tree diagram system that is the only way to properly match people.

Well I just got my video card back today. While waiting for the ups guy I was installing sc2. For ****s and giggles I played the first map and tutorials on the 4350 ati card I was using as backup. This is like the slowest modern card you can buy, kicking in at a notch below the geforce 9400. You can imagin my surprise when the default settings was a mix of low and medium, with pretty much nothing disabled. And it ran at a pretty descent clip! It did want me to drop the resolution to 720p though. Video quality wise, in game didn't suffer alot, but the cinemas lose alot of post effect lighting and depth of field effect, still looks pretty hot.

Anyways, I poped the 8800 ultra in and default was 1050 with everything maxed (ultra). Everything runs great although it was clear a few scenes were bouncing at the 24fps mark. I read on a sc2 performance article that SC2 loses quite a bit of performance on the Q6600. very unfortunate, but atleast it isn't unplayable by any means. I hope it dosn't become a trend.

I am 5 missions in and totaly stoked. Not only is it an awesome RTS with incredible balance, but the level of quality through every inch of the game is top notch. Between the loader, the menus, the in game cinemas, the game play, the UI, there are no rough edges. No crashes, no odd performance drops, no bad looking character models. Whats great is a large part of this has to do with blizzards amazing talented artist who take only a modest amount of polygons and pull off amazing looking graphics with them.

Its a shame I hate PvP so much, I dunno why but I hate losing. ^^ I like team FPS games like tribes and team fortress alot, but when it comes to RPG games and RTS, I'm not big one matching up to other players.

The only bad thing now is it will probably be another year before the next expansion is out.

Change the 2xTSSAA to 2xSSAA and you get nice quality boost and drop in framerate.
I'm currently using 4xMSAA (with 2xSSAA samples.) and the game is gorgeous, SSAA helps a lot with shader aliasing in this game.

just make sure to read all the settings.

i think some settings like the shadows on ultra would be a pretty big hit on performance.

if u read each of the descriptions u will see that there is a lot going on each setting, and some of them are probably nice to have but doesn't make the visual appearance amazing and probably not worth the performance hit.

Well ive been playing RTS games for a few years now, Ive played games like the C&C series, Dawn of War II(& expantion) .. Company of Heroes(& expantions), Empire Earth series ect to mention afew.

Ive never played the first SC but man this game is insanely good ... Great graphics, Animations, Gameplay, Sounds/Audio, Maps/Terrain, Cutscenes, Its well balanced & Its got to be one of the most well polished games i have ever played on release & Too top it off it runs smooth as silk.

Dont think ill be playing online for a while because i suck lol, Gonna get used to the gameplay, Maps & keyboard shortcuts ect ... Maybe complete the game before i try multiplayer.

Think i could be hooked on this for quite a while.
