I liked the original as well but it was crying out for Ironsights/scopes.

I dunno what happened with the original. The Gamespot debacle probably... I liked the first one. It was solid, good dev behind it. I dunno, maybe IO didn't feel like paying for good reviews so that fat bastard on Gamespot tore it to pieces.

They promised a patch for the original and never released it (PC version), it had tons of problems. For me it was wasted money. They locked and deleted forum threads, it was a shame

The only problem I ever had was the stutter bug, which you could fix by uninstalling your mouse or keyboard software as I recall. Annoying, but not unfixable.

Been playing the original again after this announcement... I think it is a really great game now actually. It looks better than I remember maxed out, and the style and artistic design is very much a stand-out. Even the shooting seems much better than I remember.

Just installed it too, and it still stutters. Every 4 or 5 seconds I get a pause. If I recall correctly, I must disable some devices for Logitech drivers

I didn't have to disable anything this time, but then I have a standard keyboard and Razer mouse now.

As far as I remember, if you don't install any Logitech drivers it works fine. Both this game and FEAR have performance problems when Logitech HID drivers are installed, and both are yet unresolved. Luckily FEAR 2 didn't suffer those problems, and I hope K&L 2 won't have them either
