hi all, first post here so be nice
![]() i have a geforce 8600m gfx card with the 256.35 drivers. running kubuntu lucid with intel dual core. any game that i try has a mouse lagging issue: every 10-20 seconds the mouse will start lagging severely with delays around 600 milliseconds between updates. the game's framerate however does not drop. I am using a synaptic touchpad -- i have tried disabling the driver in xorg.conf but to no avail. Any workarounds possible or must i wait and hope that nvidia will fix it? thnks! |

I've seen bugs like this; they are game specific, not operating system or graphics driver related.
Would you mind disclosing which game you are having problems with? |

Nexuiz i play in glx mode (not sdl) due to a bug in sdl that causes my mouse to not work randomly. sauerbraten/assaultcube are sdl, not sure about the rest. |

ok, a little more info:
Xorg uses 100% CPU when the lagging occurs. It also seems that moving the mouse does not trigger it -- just playing the games. behaves perfectly normal in my DE. |

ok more info:
I have a dual core btw, so 100% CPU is only one core. also, i killed plasma-desktop and the Xorg spikes went away but the games are still laggy feeling (the fps is at 60). I was looking through my nvidia settings and i have digital viberence on -- maybe this could be the problem. going to try later. |

think i fixed it, i had an activity in kde with a slideshow for a wallpaper, and set it to change every 59 seconds. every time a wallpaper changes x uses a lot of cpu for a nice fade effect, so that was what was causing the mouse lagging. sorry to bother you all.
