I purchased 4.0 during the pre release "sale", after almost 10 months and close to $200 gone, I won't upgrade my own forums. 4.0 is worst then hmmmmm lets see how can I put this. A 1977 Pinto or for the PC gamers Medal of Honor Airborne.

Most of the developers who made vBulletin, great have left the company, they (being IB the new owners of vB) a lot of issues right now trying to do anything right. The new pieces of vB (blog and CMS) don't work correctly. Every small update brakes god knows how many template functions, they introduce more bugs when trying to fix old ones.

I don't see many going the vB4, large sites like the AV forums are moving away from vB after they got burned upgrading .

Hell Internet Brands (IB) own sites don't run vB4. I think out of the over 200 self owned sites about 2 or 3 just got updated to v4.

I like a good clean layout. To the point, no frills, no *EDDITEDD BY DDOC*.

EDIT: Come on DOC, I didn't say anything that we're all not haulin' in our britches anyways.

Pish, nobody uses .0 releases of software.

Also, I've heard other people say the same thing as rudedog, that VB 4 is to be avoided at the moment.

Sure, but when you have over 100k members and over 2 million posts, there's really no reason to upgrade unless you really have to (e.g. huge performance/security improvements).

I remember when Mike upgrade vbulletin last time. I believe he had it done by the writers of vbulletin. Given the amount of traffic and users daily, updating vbulletin isn't a walk in the park...

So I think six's mentality is best in this case. But I can't read Mike's mind (yet). He may go for it in the near future.

I think it looks/works pretty good as well. But there are a number of VB features that would fit great with this community without gumming things up too much. And for what it's worth, other tech sites have upgraded and look newer and shinier (and use some new features) so it'd be nice to keep up with the Joneses, lol.

I'm not explicitly asking for it, but as a mod/staffer here, and also as a professional marketing/creative director and web designer, I can't help but think that this place deserves a little shining up. I volunteer my time/resources.

Abuse. It was too novel an idea at the time. Some of the created tags were a little off-putting (though some were quite funneh).
