last time I looked into same process found the same info, that going from Raid to non-raid or non-raid to raid will not work.

I was planning to do the same maybe a year ago, but after reading about it decided against it.

Well nevermind, apparently my motherboard DOESN'T SUPPORT RAID. How could I have missed this little detail? I honestly thought my mobo supported at least RAID 0/1. ARGHGHHGHGH!!!!!!

Talked about this with a co-worker and he has a PCI-X RAID card he is going to sell me for $10. I think I'll give that a try.

Are you sure this RAID controller is a 64 bit PCI-X card or simply PCIe?
PCI 1x is what I meant to say, sorry.

Not sure if it's 64-bit compatible or not. I'll have to see. He will let me try before I buy too.

I just cloned my system drive onto one of these Samsung drives, took about 20 minutes. Here are the results of another HD Tune test:



Anyone know why it declines over time? Obviously, I'm getting about 2x faster speeds when you look at max and average speeds. Not too shabby. Can't wait to get these things in a RAID 0 though . . .

Acronis. We got a copy at work and use it like crazy, especially when we have to deploy multiple workstations for one site.

That's what I thought. Thanks. I tried it once a few years back and I must have hit some wrong options because the original drive go erased. :/ I'll try it again.
