Yeah, it's not hard to choose the wrong options in Acronis. Acronis does work some wonders! Usually for a client that needs to have new workstations setup a special way, we will do one and clone it to the other workstations. Takes about 15-20 minutes over USB.

I played Starcraft 2 last night and notice some better/faster loading times but wasn't extremely impressed. I guess I just need to wait until I can get that RAID card and then start making impressions.

I even looked to see how much a new mobo would be that had on-board RAID but they were over $100. I'm just not in the market to be paying that much money for RAID.

i forgot the technical reason why it declines like that, but that simply what all hard drives do.

only way not to see the decline is to max out the drive interface.

Not sure if it's 64-bit compatible or not. I'll have to see. He will let me try before I buy too.
what you meant to say is PCI Express 1X

PCI Express 1X does not equal PCI 1x (does not exist) or PCI-X

I guess I was just comparing my results to bacon12's results. His didn't decrease over time.

Gotcha, but that's what I meant. The RAID card my co-worker has is a PCI 1x card.

PCI Express 1x , PCI is just PCI, there is no PCI 1x or PCI 2x etc....

there is PCI 3.3V, 5V and 3.3v&5v (universal) in both 32bit and 64bit extensions.

Excuse me, PCI Express 1x .

I looked to see how much it would cost to just upgrade Mobo, CPU and RAM . . . yeah . . . it was around $600 to jump onto the Core i5 Bandwagon. Not happening anytime soon lol.

Its not time really but the distance the head must travel at the end of the benchmark. Towards the end its traveling to the outer edge of the platter. On my raid set up the C drive uses the shortest distance. IE short stroking.

In my case its 500gb, but I could get faster numbers with a much smaller partition. I would rather have all my apps on my C drive so I made it larger. I plan on installing my RR card next time I format and those numbers should be even better.

My co-worker brought the PCI Express 1x RAID card today. Guess I'll be installing this puppy during the Titans/Cardinals game tonight!

is it Silicon Image based? make sure you grab the updated drivers/bios from Silicon Image site.

I went through 4 Silicon Image Sil3132 cards, 2 of then I bought from PNY and BIOS could not be updated, because they used BIOS chip that was ROM and could not be re-flashed. Those cards either caused randon lock-ups or didn't detect the drives.

One card was SIIG, it never worked, DOA, and last one that somewhat works I got from Sans Digital, before Bios update it didn't work correctly in PCI-Express 16x slot (even when it PCI-Express standard supports it), after BIOS update it works somewhat, but still on random occasion the drive that is connected to it dissapears. Its a good thing is only a backup drive, with random junk on it.
