I don't care for Pulse audio at all, but it seems that every "how to" I can find for getting rid of it is different. Are there any known, solid methods that are reasonably certain to not break my install?
Thanks guys |

KDE4 doesn't use PA by default(but can) and distros are the ones that implement it into the desktop environments. I think a vanilla GNOME still uses esound.
It's safe to remove with KDE4 and just use the xine backend but I'm really not sure about GNOME. |

I've got both Ubuntu and Fedora 13 installed, both Gnome and both PA.
![]() Heh, not gaming in Fedora, but static and delays are common in Ubuntu with it. Seems to be a common problem. |

Did a little Doom 3 last night and the sound was crystal clear with no delays. Gotta have my Doom 3 (gaming withdrawal fix)
