I've tried both and have never noticed much difference really as far as chipset drivers go.

I'm using the windows drivers over the nvidia drivers on my system, totally stable so far.I would only update them if you run into trouble.

I let Windows handle hit. Simply an easier process. If I run into problems then I will go from there and figure it out. IMO, Windows does a fantastic job on driver management,./

for X58, doesn't really matter, if your using AHCI, make sure it installed AHCI driver

Sound Blaster, you will be better off with driver from Creative, the driver that comes with windows is also made by Creative but it is very strip down version that is over 2-3 years old

Another example is windows installs drivers for most video cards, but those drivers are not idea. most modern games won't even work with the driver that comes with windows because of age and missing components.

I asked this question on Rage3D and everyone said it is better to download manually and install the drivers yourself.

true, but in this case they are right

manufactures update drivers for a reason, not because they are bored.

On a gaming PC I always check for the latest drivers, download and install. For media centre, Windows is usually k, the Windows Update drivers are usually the most stable WHQL, Windows Update has for my 260GTX the 199.77 drivers, which are my fall back drivers in case the 25x.xxs act like idiots.

Windows 7 comes with functional drivers, and if you have old hardware or motherboard components (usb, memory card reader) then you can leave those be. but sound and video as well as motherboard drivers should always be upgraded. Also check that your bios is up to date now as well.
