Post Wrapping Up QuakeCon 2010

Dubbed the Woodstock of gaming, QuakeCon once again lived up to its reputation of being the ultimate event for the PC gaming enthusiast. This year, over 4,000 gamers converged to the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas Texas for 4 days of peace, love and rockets. The 24 hour BYOC had over 2,000 attendees and pallet upon pallet of energy drinks to fuel the legions of gamers.

At the show, we partnered with EVGA and Razer and together brought an enormous amount of graphics cards, peripherals, games, shirts, and of course NVIDIA Snuggies.

Our booth was jam packed with gamers clamoring to get hands-on game-time with Fallout: New Vegas running in 3D Vision, watching EVGA and K1ngp1n's demonstration of liquid nitrogen overclocking, competing in 1 vs 1 challenges in StarCraft 2 and Quake Live, and experiencing a new dimension in racing with Need for Speed: Shift in 3D Vision Surround.

Tom Petersen teamed up with id Software CEO Tim Willits for the NVIDIA Main Stage presentation where they took a look back at the history and intersetion of id's games and NVIDIA's graphics processors. At the PC Perspective hardware workshop, Tom once again took the stage ' showing a never before seen demo that we created just for QuakeCon.It was amodified version of our PhysX destruction demo, and featured Ryan Shrout's likeness on the wall which we destroyed by throwing a number of crash dummies at it.

One of our most popular activities at QuakeCon was what we called NVIDIA pop-up parties ' where we set up surprise snacking stations at various places around the Hilton Anatole in the wee hours of the night. We'd announce the location in the BYOC and the first couple of hundred gamers that found the pop up party got to snack on hamburgers, chicken fingers, and drinks. Nom Nom.
