It should be pretty fun. I think between this and the new one from the guys that did titan Quest, we'll have some good titles to hold us over till D3.

The first torchlight was fun up until the endless dungeon when it became a pure character grinding snore fest.

Hopefully they hired more level designers. I see the combat is now actually outdoors which was my biggest compliant of the last one.

I wonder if they'll let you bring in a torchlight 1 character.

No I don't think so, they've said that the old classes aren't in the game any more, all classes are new.

Regarding the endgame, they should put the level cap a bit lower or fix the endgame. Classic endgame would still be grinding certain areas and bosses to get gear sets and other gear that you want. That's what D2 and WoW is doing anyway. With multiplayer in Torchlight 2 that might get more interesting.

Oh and here is a good cam from GamesCom, showing beginner starting area gameplay with the Railman class.

I hope they define the classes up a little bit to make co-op more interesting.

I wish they would make the sequel look less cartoony. Judging from the video above, the game looks more cartoony compared to the first.

Why should this series be less cartoon like? There are dozens of games in this genre that have a gritty, more realistic style. The cartoon like quality is part of what differentiates it - and makes it possible to run on low end systems.

If you want gritty action rpg, then you should check out the upcoming Grim Dawn. There is a bunch of people from Iron Lore who did Titans Quest, so they got experience with the game type. They are even using an much improved engine and tool set from TQ to do Grim Dawn.

A bunch of images on their site, I really like the texture work.

I don't know if there is a release date yet though.
