Yes I have the latest driver installed.
But it looks like I just fixed the problem.
In my xorg.conf I had the option "BackingStore" set to true. I does not seem to play well with xserver 1.9.

Hi folks,

I'm still experiencing this problem after upgrading 260.19.04 to 260.19.06; it sped things up a little bit but the scrolling issue in Firefox especially remains. It does appear that if I turn off antialiasing fonts completely and set Firefox to use the global smoothing setting (about:config, gfx.use_text_smoothing_setting) the scrolling becomes quick again after restarting the browser. While this works for now, it's obviously not a longterm solution. I'm running Compiz on the Ubuntu Maverick release candidate.

I've attached the output of nvidia-bug-report.sh; let me know if I can provide any further details.

Edit: gtkperf results (with font smoothing completely off):

260.19.06 worked for me, but 260.19.12 blank screened. Until I disabled MSIs; after that everything worked again.

Black screen also for me, both with 260.19.06 and 260.19.12 as reported here

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=155218

Can anyone experiencing a black screen provide the logs requested in the above link, it seems that even though I pass - --logverbose 6 to the X server my logs do not contain expected information.

Thanks,
Alessandro

MSI ref: http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Docum.../MSI-HOWTO.txt

How do you disable MSI?
A quick scan through the above doesn't make it clear to me, other than building a separate kernel, I guess.

First, I'm guessing the MSI issue is separate from your issue (given that 260.19.06 worked for me).

In any case, you don't have to disable MSI in the kernel, just tell the nvidia module not to use MSI (this is the default anyway, so unless you or your distro has explicitly enabled it, it is already disabled).

To disable it, don't set the module parameter "NVreg_EnableMSI" (this is typically done in /etc/modprobe.conf or /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf)
