Installed both stable and beta, crash is basically the same:
The monitor says "No Signal" and dims, in log all appears to be fine (despite X eating all the CPU), and finally Xorg.conf ends with [ 762.536] (EE) NVIDIA(0): WAIT: (E, 0, 0x827d, 0) The system is alive, so staying on ssh one can kill X and get to normal state, despite the monitor will remain down till next reboot. I use x86 Fedora 13, and [ 739.138] (II) LoadModule: "nvidia" [ 739.139] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so [ 739.139] (II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation" [ 739.139] compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.0 [ 739.139] Module class: X.Org Video Driver [ 740.051] (II) NVIDIA dlloader X Driver 256.25 Tue May 18 20:40:43 PDT 2010 [ 740.051] (II) NVIDIA Unified Driver for all Supported NVIDIA GPUs [ 740.051] (--) using VT number 8 Meanwhile time to enable nouveau back... vitb, what beta driver version did you try?
256.29 should have a fix for the DMAR / intel_iommu problem. 256.25 did not have this fix. Of course, you could have a different issue altogether. Does X come up at all before the monitor loses signal? It's hard to tell from your description. An nvidia-bug-report would be very helpful. |

Sorry to bump old thing up but it seems the issue (though a bit different) is still here.
I now have access to the box so can experiment a bit. Latest drivers not hanging anymore, but just bail out. I will attach the bugreport output as well as some logs. |

attachments. Error from NV:
Sep 1 12:53:15 ETXhost kernel: NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! (0x54:0xffffffff:170 1) Also, it's now Fedora 12, not 13 (don't think it makes big difference)... |

Addon. intel_iommu=off fixes the problem, but it is not really good workaround (box is intended to make major leverage of that feature)
