Exclamation 256.* and 260.* crashes kernel with GeForce 9600M GS + kernel 2.6.(36/37) + KDE 4

Hello,

Since a few months now I experience random crashes I successfully reproduced with:
256.52
256.53
260.19.29
260.19.36

173.14.28 works without crashing but is definitely too slow to run KDE 4 with desktop effects.

I also tried combinations of Linux kernel 2.6.36 and 2.6.37.

I am using Gentoo Linux with the following packages:
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-260.19.36
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r1
x11-base/xorg-server-1.9.4
KDE 4.6.1 (but happened with KDE 4.5.x too).

I can't generate the bug report after the crash because I can't run commands anymore even from an already started ssh console.

The provided nvidia-bug-report.log.gz has been generated less than 30 seconds before the freeze, I am running it in a shell script every 30 seconds for the purpose of this bug report.

Any idea on how to solve this issue?
I would be pleased to provide more information or even debugging core dumps if someone can provide me a way to generate one.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Regards,
Patrick
