Default Window-Less

For the first time in years

Getting this install settled finally and loving it. Got full 3d functionality with ATI, so I may install some games soon too.

I'll get a copy of Win7 soon enough, but right now just enjoying what I can learn from Linux.

Wow. That's beautiful, grey.

I'm not as brave as you are, but I am going to be using my linux laptop a lot more than I have.

Thanks Doc - I'm loving this - even when I still had Win installed I spent much more time in 'nix.

Won't be long before Borderlands or another game is calling me again but I have this set up as my primary desktop right now.

Can't wait to see what I can do after I really learn something.

Yea, that's why I got a laptop dedicated to Linux. I want to be as efficient with Linux as I am with Windows. That's why I ask a lot of questions....

Thanks Arup - I'll check it out.

Definitely settled on Ubuntu btw - I re-installed OS11.3 on a spare drive yesterday and worked with it a few hours last night and finally conceded suse just isn't for me.

Besides, this install has been up and running for a while now and is configured almost exactly the way I like it, just a few more tweaks to go, but I don't want to put this much work into another install just now.

EDIT: Oh, and I got the biggest kick out of the Emerald theme manager icon turning from green to red after installing an ATI card. Simple I know, but very cool nonetheless

Heh, I installed GNOME yesterday and after a painfully 3 hour ordeal, I reinstalled OS KDE. GNOME just isn't for me.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Doc, the OS11.3 Gnome theme is just...bad I can see why it turned you off.

Sean - I'll be reinstalling Win7 at some point, Borderlands be calling...

Drol - Most likely Doom 3, RTCW, maybe try Wolfenstein 2010 for kicks, but it's just performance tests. I really need to actually learn this OS

Get me gaming again and it's all over....
