Actually, DB made that build.
Personally, there is no way in hell I'd pay $16,000 for that system. Its just not worth it.

Same here. I'd rather build a system with the same PC specs and just buy myself an Xbox 360 slim and set it right beside it. Save myself 14.5 grand.

Most people don't need such an over the top configuration either.
They stop at the parts they know and even the lower config, with a simple i7 930 and 2xGTX480 SLI is way overpriced (at a bit less than $8000).

Most of the cost comes from the PC part of it.

Is it cool? Yes. Is it unique? Yep. Is it a cool engineering feat? Yep.

Can you build a similar i7 930 and dual 480 system yourself and just buy a 360 Slim for over 10k less? Yep.

This is a cool contest type prize item. Even someone with money to burn wouldn't bother.

I'm not knocking the design, I'm just saying it's WAY overpriced.

Besides the over the top stuff which is fine for that kind of machine, I have to question the use of an i7 930 and 50GB SSD's. 100-120GB SSD's actually perform better, and trust me, you DO want more space than 100GB on your SSD if you can afford it.

Sure, people who budget are likely to make such a sacrifice, but for an all out balls to the wall type machine, not using a 980X and at least two 120GB drives just seems odd.

I don't see anything about it that makes it worth that kind of money. I don't care what went into it.
