Screen Blacks After GRUB boot

Ok so... It seems that my monitor is searching for an input after a boot to Lucid. Just recently installed Unbuntu and can't figure out a way to install drivers and can't find a low-rez setting so I can at least get to a CD drive.

How should I get my Geforce 8800 to show me anything after GRUB boot? I'm sure it doesn't help I'm new to Linux as well... Your help is appreciated.
