here's some more screens, mid 1800's. another big change in this game are city-states, which are like mini-civs that will reward you for helping them, or you can just wipe them out and incorporate them into your own civ. problem is, they can ally with other major civs, so you have to be careful who you attack.

another notable change is that you don't have to build transports to get your ground troops across bodies of water. this makes waging war much less of a pain in the butt than previous civ games. you do have to research seafaring or navigation, can't remember which one allows the sea transport.

the artillery cannot be stacked on top of ground troops, but you can use it from several hex spaces away to weaken cities.

the UI is much improved... very slick and intuitive.

Mine finished downloading last night. Didn't have time to play it though. Will give it a whirl this afternoon. How is the demo limited? Time or function, or both?

It's a turn limited demo. You pretty much won't be getting past any of the medieval technology. The improvements made to the game seem substantial. I have never really cared for the past Civ games but this one seems really intuitive so it lets you focus on the fun part.

Yes it is. First time I've downloaded something from steam on my new internet plan. A steady 3.8MB/s... loving steams servers.
