Talking aaaaaah!

You *do* realize, you've just made the remaining ~3.5 hours of work and commute the longest of my life, right?

/me feigns stomach illness and breaks many laws, both traffic and physical, in his healong rush home to his FX5900-equipped compy.

Use the --extract-only option. For a smaller download, choose pkg0 off FTP.

Default awesome

Hey mr. mecham,

that is great news, however when i checked the readme, there was no listing for the 5900 or 5900 ultra....

I am assuming that the readme is in error and not the drivers (at work, cant tell till i get to my gentoo box)

ok thx again,

later

The release notes are wrong too. They list the changes that were in 4349 as being in 4363. From what I can tell 4363 only fixed:

* Overscan is currently only available on GeForce4 or newer GPUs with either NVIDIA or Conexant TV encoders.

I don't see this mentioned anywhere but at:

http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L...a-1_0-4363.txt

The 4363 Changelog lists nothing new since 4349.

I was never able to get a straight answer to what was different between 4349 and 4363. I was referred to the errata but was never vable to find any (other than the above URL which for weeks returned 404).

This is no big deal, just important for history's sake.

The 4363 errata listed what was known to be broken in 4363. Everything in the 4349 errata was fixed in 4363.

Smile thanx!!!

Hi,
thank you Andy... the driver seems to work really great. The only bug I found with previous driver (4463) was with the renderaccel extention enabled. Now it is just great.
BTW: with glxgears now i got ~200 frames less (geforceFX 5900). But who cares now that the xrender bug disappeared...

Thanx again...

Mhmm, a very funny driver version. With my GeForce4 Ti4200 I get a colorful, blinking console instead of a login prompt when I want to switch back after the X-Server is loaded.

I can't remember this behaviour since the very early versions (0.9-xxx).

I currently use SuSE 8.2 with all available YOU updates. (Kernel 2.4.20).

For now I downgraded to the previous version, that's working perfectly.

This is nearly a direct quote of what you said when I asked about this when the 4363 driver was released.

Perhaps I'm asking the wrong question. How about this:

Where is the 4349 errata page? Or is it so difficult to simply paste the differences here? Why is this such a secret? I don't understand why this needs to be asked in reverse nor why the Changelog wasn't simply updated. Or were most of the changes not really driver-related but installer-related?

It isn't like I haven't tried. I looked in the 4349 release notes and saw nothing (other than the boiler-plate KNOWN ISSUES that hasn't changed for ages). I looked for a 4349 errata page on the NVidia web site and found nothing. Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places.

I also have a GF4 Ti 4200. But with 1.0-4496 installed I can happily switch between text-consoles and X11 without any problems. This can't be the drivers fault, I think.

I'm on 2.4.19 with some RedHat 7.2

Best regards...
