Thanks! 2D performance seems better. Is RenderAccel more stable yet? I'll give it a try tomorrow and report what I find.

Default 2D performance

2D performance seems to be around 90-100% of the 3123 drivers according to a few random tests (resize, move, shmput). Not a bad improvement.

does this driver fix the 'shaddows' on the right side of contrasts? haven't touched it yet but i guess it will be in portage by tomorrow...

but it would be really nice to know if theses 'ugly' vertical lines would disapera, i feal like my eyes are broke or so.....

but i'm sure it's the graphic card. since even my friends can see those...

strange.
someone allready had those strange shaddows on the right side of contrasts ( mostly borders )

reg.

Where is the 4349 errata page?

Or is it so difficult to simply paste the differences here?
That's why we have errata lists. If it's not listed, it's fixed. You generally won't see a bug last from errata to errata. There are some exceptions - the Samsung X10 issue, for one.

Am I right that this doesn't mean that the x10 issue is now solved?

I've got it going with RH 9.0 Kernel 2.4.21, NvAGP set to 1 , and after 2 hours my desktop hasn't locked up. Unfrotuately I don't have any Linux OGL games to test with.

well, I'm using mdk9.1,so:

- first I killed every window,then opened a konsole
- did glxgears
- killed it,then logged out and went to a console CRTL-ALT-F1
- /etc/init.d/dm stop
- nvidia-installer --update
- /etc/init.d/dm start
- worked ...
- gone back to console to kill it, was suddenly dark blue text (even the [ OK ]) and first column wasn't visible.
- did exit twice and got back to graphical
- logged in
- switched back to console and this time the text visible was enormously huge, and I mean huge. and sort of interlaced like... (and still blue login text) like a 80x50 pixel graphical mode or something, with text that is for 640x480 or something?
- got back to graphical and ran glxgears

what'd ya know, it doesn't run faster, but somewhat stabler! max stdev ~=5fps from the 785 avg

well, after a cold reboot, I'll know if the console is back to normal, but if it's not, I'll downgrade, no matter what bugfixes... which is a shame. sorry for the bad news, I know you had a lot of work on this one. hope to have another release soon, thanks for the updated readme and stereo with twinview, although I don't use it, keep up the good work.

PS: can someone like you contact the 'valgrind' developpers? I'd very much like to memleak debug a program I make, it's modular and so far the only leaking module will probably be the GLX module.

after cold reboot:

I also enabled the RenderAccel
with the exact same result

btw: was wrong about the glxgears fps rates:
was 795-798 min-max so avg=796.5 and stddev=1.5; which is very stable I might add.

ok the blueness before logging in still there
and the gigantic blinking text (it's white, sorry) is definatly interlaced like:
a sort of example: (this is the letter 'l' )

====----

----

----

----

----

----

----

----

----====

====----

with each line/column here : representing ONE pixel!!!
-> ' ' means a black pixel
-> '-' means a white pixel
-> '=' means a blinking white pixel (blinking with the cursor)

each pixel is about the size of a dash and the 'l' fills about 3% width and 10% height of the screen with spaces meaning there can be almost 5 lines with about 20 chars on it!

very nice ascii art.
I'll go look how to downgrade using the nvidia-installer.

Default installer dependencies

The nividia-installer with driver 4496 is linked against GLIBC 2.2, which means it won't run on my system. The nvidia-installer with driver 4363 works just fine. Could you provide a version of the installer that isn't linked against GLIBC 2.2?

(I tried using the old installer, but it barfed.)
