Default Re: Single GTX460 1GB worse than 8800GT 512MB SLI?

Old post, but I'll add to it with personal experience. High end video cards need a high end cpu. My wow performance didnt improve much when I went from a single 8800 to my 460, but thats because any situations were my fps dipped, it was a cpu issue.

Although I did get a big boost in my crysis frame rates. I really couldn't do x1050 on my 8800 Ultra at a playable frame rate (and to me, ~20 fps is a playable framerate), but my 460 does it quite well.

I know how ever that I won't see alot of my performance until I do a motherboard/cpu upgrade now.

I'm sorry but most comments here are just plain stupid.

If 8800GT in SLI manages to score more than GTX460 with the same CPU then it means that CPU cannot be a bottleneck. It also shows that 8800GT in SLI is actually faster than GTX460 under some resolutions and games - there's nothing extraordinary here, just a matter of fact.

To the OP: you can alleviate your situation in some games a little bit by installing a quad core CPU.
