There was only one metal song in SOTN baddie (not counting the Bloody Tears remix anyway)! But yeah it was an epic soundtrack.

I keep getting the impression that this is a CV game in name only. Not particularly interested in it.

This game has music? Oh that's right, I disable all music in all games. Metal musAc doesn't go with this style of game.

BTW ALL metal musAc sucks. For the life of me I don't get why so many people like it. Other than country music, metal music is the worst style of music ever invented.

Here's a nice present for that stupid comment.

Don't know about you guys but i am seriously enjoying this. Though i was a teen during the NES era of consoles and beyond i never played a castlevania game so one could say this is my first castlevania game. Really digging the combat although i have come up against a few annoyances like the gigantic trolls and biped lycans but imo once you get the rythme of combat, it is actually quite pleasant imo. Really glad i got this game

EDIT: One niggle i have with this game is some of the imvisible walls which are distracting to say the least as i want to go and explore everywhere. Feels a little like hand holding although there are areas that branch out, to conclude exploration feels as if i am telling an adult (who is leading me by the hand btw) where i want to go out of a choice of two rather than going ape

Combat on the other hand is a joy to behold especially juggling light and dark magic

Yeah the invisible wall thing really takes away any kind of immersion you get, but the combat is actually very well done.

In the spot around where I am, there is a knight that looks like you can reach by jumping across a small gap, but it won't let you. You have jumped (from the look of it) significantly longer gaps earlier, but you can't manage this one and it won't let you try either. You have to actually go around to get to it.

The only thing I wish they did was put dodge to the right analog stick like GoW. If you could adjust the camera with the right analog stick I'd think the controls are fine, but since you can't there is no reason to make the block+left stick direction be dodge.

I like having the block also act as your roll key. In GoW it doesn't matter much as you can not interrupt your own attacks with a block or roll so you might as well execute them separately, where as here in Castlevania you can interrupt your own attacks promoting a more aggressive yet defensive play style.
Having that on the right stick makes it a bit clumsy and delayed i think.

With that said, it would be nice to be able to customize the controls and swap buttons.

Block and dodge works the same way in Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. There you have to be really fast with it. It's very deceptive when looking at a good player play those games as it looks like they attack in frenzy but its defensive play at the core of it.

I ended up buying the game and I'm really liking it. The reviews seem overly critical of the game, at least as far as I've gone. Each stage has a challenge you can complete after you finish it, there's lots of collectible items and it's worthwhile to backtrack. I'm looking forward to trying the higher difficulties once I complete it. Really a great game so far! I'd strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to play a solid action game.

I agree some of the "reviews" I just can't understand. Is the game perfect no, but it is definitely a good game and on the same playing field as GoW, Ninja Gaiden, DMC, and Bayonetta.

There were only really 3 things that stick out on it that just feel wrong. The titan battles were terrible IMHO. They were easier than most of the other regular battles in the game. They also seem very out of place in the game and a direct copy of SotC gameplay. The chupacabra things were also just boring and a waste of time, it didn't really fit into the game. I might say if it was only done once maybe it could have worked but every time after that I was just screaming "not again". Also some of the puzzles just weren't right for this kind of an action game.

A chess like game in a action game was definitely very much out of place.

3 hours into it... it's like a bad dante's inferno ripoff

Only with worse controls and worse camera view.

I was reading more reviews today and stumbled upon this one which may sound harsh but is pretty spot on and I'm usually pretty forgiving of games unless they're just terrible.

I seriously want to just put god of war III in and be reminded of exactly how it's done but I want to finish this damn game since I paid for it.

Once I do, it's going on ebay. I've got resistance 1 and 2, uncharted 2 and killzone 2 still in their wrappers.

OMG At least play Uncharted 2! Resistence 1 and 2 are K. Killzone 2 is fun. Play those.

I had Castlevania in my cart last night when i ordered Enslaved, Fallout Vegas and just as it happens, Dante's Inferno was on sale so I grabbed it also. I took Castlevania out though. Gonna save it for laters, besides it was 60USD, no way I'm paying that much.
