Well I put that d3d9.dll file in the folder and the game's been totally stable ever since, for about 4 more hours of gameplay anyway! Great game still!

The 4GB binary that also replaces the tick count function does wonders, too.

Yup. I still get the odd crash on save or opening my pip, but I'm using a ton of mods, most are alpha or beta ports from Fallout 3. Jury rigged together until FOSE comes out for Vegas.

I really hate the fact that they made it so you have to start all over after you beat the main story. I don't even play the game anymore because I don't want to beat it and start all over again :\.

Just install the mod that allows you to continue to roam freely after you finish the main story.

OMFG I thought I lost my upgraded ED-E when he got blowed up at the airstrip. Luckily I found the console commands to make come back from limbo.

This page is helpful if you lose ED-E in the Unconscious Explosion bug.

My bro gifted me this game last night and I was really excited to play it. But I kept getting the "Steam error- this game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." I tried restarting Steam, my computer, changing Steam servers, nothing worked.

Needless to say I was pretty pissed. Then I tried again this morning and GOT THE SAME DAMN THING. What do I do? Contact Steam?

WTF

EDIT: Someone suggested this: http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/...ly_unavailable

I will try it later and report back.

Still doesn't work. Verifying the cache says one file fails validation, but then it never fixes it. GRR **** YOU STEAM.

Sounds like you may need to delete your game files and start over.

I've done that three times. I have verified the cache multiple times. It's always the InstallScript file that's corrupt. I tried resetting Steam (delete everything except steamapps and Steam.exe), making sure there are no read-only files, deleting ClientRegistry.blob, and disabling everything in the background. Nothing worked.

I submitted a ticket. That will take probably over a week to get a reply.

you might want to make sure that steam or fallout isn't running in compatibility mode...
