Question I forgot something about Steam

Does Steam store the downloaded install file(s) to a game after it has been installed? If so , where? Looking to keep my SSD OS install as slim as possible.

Install files? The only install files I can think of are the ones Steam runs right before you run the game for the first time, and those are typically only DX releases, which aren't too large.

If you really want to see what executables were downloaded, search your Steam directory for *.exe and browse through there and see which files aren't needed. Just be sure not to delete the game executables lol.

As long as you run Microsoft's dxwebsetup once in a while (every 2-3 months is fine enough, maybe even more), you just get the message about the DirectX setup but it doesn't really do anything as far as I remember, it's just for updating your DirectX installation to ensure you fit the game requirements, system-wise.

Other than that, it's like ViN86 says... nothing is stored except the game content.

Nope, what is in the steam folder is needed for steam at one point or another. If you start deleting files you will end up with problems.

My steam folder is a tiny 120gb.
