was kind of hoping for more. Although, who knows how legit those results are.

That's pretty impressive for a single card. Imagine crossfire or an X2 card (assuming they will go back to the X2 naming). Though since this card is going to use a 6-pin and an 8-pin peg, I bet a dual card version would end up being a lower clocked card like a theoretical 6950.

3D mark I don't care about, heaven results are impressive because of the heavy tessellation used in the bench... although they didn't specify what the tessellation was set to.

I'll be waiting for official results for sure, hopefully they aren't more than 3 weeks away.

Same here. I won't be buying one with 1GB and if the 2GB ones only come in the eyefinity 6 overpriced form, I won't be buying one of those either.

The numbers look good. Too bad I won't be upgrading my GPU for at least a year or two.

Heh... I'm still running a factory overclocked / liquid cooled 8800GTX... 3.5 years and I may still hold out for another year.

Since I refused to get into widescreen gaming... I'm stuck at 1280x1024 and pretty much, I haven't had a NEED to upgrade my 8800GTX... especially since I despise Bloom and HDR effects and turn them off immediately. On some of the more modern games... it doesn't bother me to run them on medium settings, either.

But... I'm sure that there will be some game out there that will make me upgrade sooner or later... I just don't know when that will be. And even then... I may just pick up a used 5870, 6970, GTX480, or GTX580 (Depending on how long I wait to upgrade)... because any of them would be a Quantum Leap over what I got now.

(And to think... I used to upgrade my video card every 12 to 18 months... closer to 12 months in the TNT / Geforce 1 / Geforce 2 / Geforce 3 days)

I too will be sticking with my GTX285 for perhaps another year, was tempted to go SLi but really havent found the need to in any of the games i play...most at max settings 1920x1200 resolution.

Might even be tempted to wait till next gen consoles are released seeing as most games nowadays are simple ports that demand nothing more than i have.

November will see the release of the Cayman XT-based HD 6970 and Cayman Pro-based HD 6950 which have all of the features seen in Barts plus enhanced rendering scalability and off-chip buffering for DX11 applications. These will be the spiritual successors to the HD 5870 and HD 5850 and should go head to head with the higher end Fermi cards.
This...is interesting...
