Asrock makes all kinds of oddball products to fill odd niches. I'm GLAD to see such a product, a lot of 939 boards are total crap and I see tons of dead ones these days in my shop.

I got an Opteron 185 complete system sitting in my closet unused for three straight years, gathering dust and resale value.

I'm guessing that integrated ATi 3300 will blow away my "support nVidia during it's darkest days" GeForce FX 5600 ULTRA or my GeForce 7800 GT.

Hopefully this motherboard will be available in North America by December.

Wow... Socket 939 is long dead. I hope they don't expect to make money off of this niche product.

EDIT: LOL @ HDMI on a skt 939 board!

Well, it'd make a decent enough media server.

Couldn't do any HD encoding but it'd distribute the files perfectly fine. And it'll be able to play back anything. On a budget, using some of your own spare parts- it's not a bad offering.

I'll never own another AScrock. They refused to warranty a mobo of my sister's (which I assembled) because I didn't use "approved" ram, even though specs matched. The Mobo was DOA. I had to jump through hoops with Newegg, too.

How much you want for that Opteron 185?

ATI 3300 would likely perform something like a 7600GS/GT (as HD 3850 is about 1.5x 7800 performance).

I'm not parting it out yet hehe. I am semi-serious about buying this motherboard, although initial research isn't providing any positive results. Looks like it can be only bought through a special order "mass order" or in local stores in individual countries if "they feel like it".

Oh another thing is that this motherboard is pricier than I expected (1 available on ebay).

Maybe just get an A8V Deluxe @ [H] or something. I built 2 939 rigs at the same time with them back in spring 2008 and both worked perfect with 3gb DDR, x2 3800/4800/Opty 165 CPUs and HD 3850 AGPs. I upgraded one to an AM2+ rig in July 09 and the other to AM2+ in January '10... and sold both motherboards for ~$45 a piece.

I'm glad they put this out, lol.

I have a AMD X2 4600+ dual core 939 in a Asus A8N-SLI. Nforce 4 chipset. Need I say more? It will do SLI but only 8x, single card is 16x. Later boards were labeled 32 and did 16x with SLI.

It's not a great board. This system is running games pretty well. It has a 8800 GTX, Windows XP SP3, 2GB of ram and a PCI Audigy 2zs. It's very snappy, boots up quick and runs well.

If the MB ever dies, I would never get another Nvidia board, but I'd get this MB.

I still love AMD, but my bad experiences with this very config made me go back to Intel. I will say now the board is running great, but early on, a combination of bad Nvidia chipset drivers and poor bios updates made my life hell for a while.
