Looking forward to this winter's retail edge Big Deal though. Whatever mobo+CPU combo they offer I'm planning to pick up. Should make a nice server.

When is SB due out? Would be awesome if I could snag one- even if only low end.
+1 I never overclock.

I'm thinking this might be the next upgrade for me. I've gone higher core count the last two times, but given that a lot of games still only thread 2 cores at best I don't see the need to go above 4 cores.

Anything over 4ghz on air sounds great to me!

I have a 920 and most likely will be skipping Sandy Bridge. I'm just hoping I can pick up a cheap and faster i7 next year as they start to lower the prices and phase them out (like if the 960 drops to $200). I don't overclock.

Since my next big upgrade is gonna be 100% new hardware, I will probably go with a 2500K if I decide to go with Intel.

But, I'm still curious about how well Bulldozer will perform. I want benchies dammit!

Yeah I'm going to see how bulldozer does as well. I'll probably skip the first gen of bulldozer and SB because I just got this x6 and it demolishes everything I throw at it.

This here. The 920 offers all the performance I need and then some.

The Socket 1366 successor will follow later with Sandy Bridge E including PCIe 3.0, 8 Core CPUs, Tri-Channel memory...

I really hate that Intel is doing this
I'm ok with it... let the product mature a bit before revising the chips for high end...

I'd hate to buy the i7 920 for example and miss the refresh and better overclockers like the i7 930....

Plus that gives me some time to really feel like i need to upgrade before i get rid of this Q6600
