Interestingly my GPU seems to get hotter with the newest driver, overclocking ( or in my case underclocking) does not work and crashes on try. I'd call that regressions.

Is it hotter, or does it just show a higher temperature?

It's hard to know without actualy measuring the temperature yourself, but fair enough.

LVDS screen does not work... undermining the entire point of a laptop; the 260.X series is less functional than VESA for me. Original thread tracking this issue: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=140482

But at risk of sounding condescending, have you tried scrolling down on the nvidia linux forum page? There are bug / regression reports all over this sub-forum for the 260 series.

I don't support the idea! I want a functional 260.xx driver, because Xrender is better implemented than in 256 and as a result Qt4/KDE4 applications do run better
