Default Re: 260.19.12 black screen on GTX 465, Ubuntu 10.04 64

Apologies for resurrecting such an old thread, but I figured it'd be worthwhile to revisit this since it remains highly-ranked on Google.
I ended up switching over to Arch Linux with Nouveau (the newer version actually works OK in 2d on the 465). When Gnome 3 came out of testing, I switched over to the NVidia drivers again to try out gnome-shell, as I didn't see an obvious way to get 3d support in Nouveau. Turns out the NVidia driver worked fine straight out of the Arch repos. No problems to report yet, so I guess I can call this resolved and chalk it up to conflicts between the older Xorg in Ubuntu and the multitude of drivers I tried.
