Sold. While my 285s have held up well, I'm tired of owning an under-desk space heater (and that's with the fans running at 90% in an open case).

I bought two of the EVGA cards. Hopefully they'll be here Friday.

What I'm interested in (besides the performance boost) is the dedicated performance monitoring circuitry on this card that a lot of reviews are talking about. How is this different from the downclocking already present in the drivers for older cards when the card is idle and on the desktop? Will it also regulate voltage now? Will this cause problems for overclocking, where the power hardware and drivers might shortchange an OC'ed 580 in voltage?

If I'm reading things correctly this circuitry mostly steadies out some of the swings in voltage when the GPU is stressed.

Nice performance and power reduction. The new heat sink/fan design is nice, too.

It's too bad the original card wasn't like this.

If I didn't have a 480 already I'd jump on this.

Also, I read Techpowerup's review and I can't believe how much power the ATI 4870 512 used, unreal. People complained about the 480? My god, that card was a power wh0re.

Much better that the 480 that's for sure, I'm glad to see proper availability and decent prices too. I wasn't really expecting either...

I just ordered two EVGA GTX 580 SC's as well. The fact that these cards come in stock at the same speeds that I OC'ed my GTX 480s to leaves me excited for the possibilities of the overclocking potential of these 580s. Hopefully that power regulation hardware doesn't ruin my fun.

580 SLI isn't that much faster than 480 SLI
I dunno, I just looked at Anands updated sli review and it was pretty impressive.

Most of the slides I saw were a 10-20 fps increase at stock speeds. I find that impressive. Maybe you're not as easily impressed

Overclocked I'd imagine that will jump to 20-30 fps which is huge in my eyes.
