Default 2 Nvidia-Cards with 8GB Ram

i have 2 Nvidia-Cards and a 2 monitor setup. Everything works fine when i use max. 3 GB RAM.
After changing RAM to 8 GB only one Nvidia-Card is working. Every attempt to setup the second card with nvidia-settings fails with a freeze.
A reduce to 3 GB RAM let's everything work flawless. Any hints what i can do to get it work?

Latest driver whas from Opensuse repo and also directly from Nvidia, there was no difference.

I assume you are using a 64-bit distro?
