Default X won't start after upgrade to F12 kernel 2.6.32.23-170.fc12.x86_64

I upgraded to F12 kernel 2.6.32.23-170.fc12.x86_64 and X won't start, with the nvidia module not loading and complaining "The NVIDIA kernel module does not appear to be receiving interrupts". This is with both 256.35 and 260.19.21. Going back to kernel 2.6.32.21-168.fc12.x86_64 works fine with both driver versions. There are no complaints during the kernel module build. When it loads correctly with the older kernel it is using msi.

From /proc/interrupts:
29: 101 0 22658 38 PCI-MSI-edge nvidia
