Default [BUG] EFI + Nvidia driver = Black vterms

On my macbook pro (5,5), I use grub2-efi to boot without using the macbooks bios-emulation mode. This makes the system boot much faster, and, importantly, suspend/resume about 3x faster.
However, after the nvidia driver has started, I am unable to return to any vterms - the screen is simply off (black, no backlight). It is my understanding that the kernel uses 'efifb' to draw the vterms, and is failing to return to it after having handed off to the nvidia driver.
