this is to be assumed with all games at this point in time unfortunately.

thankfully, the development tool kit, a (hopefully) fairly robustly editable INI file and numerous skilled PC gamers will (once again) give us the version that we should have gotten to begin with.

The hard work from guys like Quarl and fake factory pretty much have ensured that the older games will still impress us visually. With any luck, ol Quarl can work some magic on this (if the textures are as bad as we're assuming they will be)

Is it just me or does this pic look quite dated? I think the Crysis 1 water and foilage looks better, and that's, what 3 years old now... the textrures look blocky, the flowers at the bottom left look aweful and when you first look at it, it looks clunky and doesn't blend together... low poly count or seams or something... I think Gothic 4 even looks better...

I'm also thinking back to the 3d mark demo of the outdoor scene with water and plants and I though it looked as good or better than this, and I'm thinking it was 2003 or 2005??

That's why it says XBox360 on it so it's not going to come close to Crysis or Gothic 4 on the PC.

From what they said it's going to be identical, you'll only be able to run different resolutions and add AA on PC.

It will take the modders all of a month to fix that. If that long...

All sounds good besides the bit about PC being identical to consoles. At least give us proper draw distance options FFS. Oh well, modders to the rescue once again...

If it's anything like Fallout and Oblivion, the PC will be able to run Ultra settings. We all know consoles have some trickery to make them look good and bulshots that look like they have AAx32 applied.

who cares? I remember being amazed by Oblivion graphics... and While I had almost high end pc back then.. I still couldnt play it maxed out.

and... Its Rpg. As long as it don't look worse than oblivion, it should be allright. Hope They will do better main plot this time.

Ultra settings on fallout are a joke though and thats the problem. "ultra" should really strain most gaming computers shy of the I7 tri SLI or SLI with the newest cards.

If ONE GTX470 card can run fallout on ultra settings then something is not right.

2 tweaks to the draw distance in the ini file changed it from this (which is ultra btw)

to this

Which is still not far enough IMO to be considered "ultra".

Morrowind and Oblivion both forced me to upgrade my graphics cards back in the day. they showed me what I COULD have if I had a faster GPU and Crysis was the same way.

The good news is that it looks like they've finally got a decent draw distance going here in this new game and though the textures do look a bit last gen, I'm willing to forgive that (with the assumption that the modding community will improve them) as long as the core game is fun.

It's an old engine. Drawn distance is optimised in various ways, depending on how good the engine is.
