Default Kernel update broke nvidia driver?

Hey, haven't posted here in a while since I had no problem but now, I updated my Ubuntu to 2.6.35.24 and now I can't boot normally, it goes to a tty1 screen. I've tried startx and it didn't work so I'm pasting the xorg log.

I've also attached the needed nvidia-bug-report log
Attached Files
File Type: log Xorg.0.log (16.3 KB, 89 views)
File Type: gz nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (55.4 KB, 80 views)

You are still running nouveau:

[ 20.422516] [drm] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: called without init

Oh ok. I remember removing nouveau a long time ago so I could install the legacy driver, so now its back...

How would I remove it correctly?

-EDIT-

I removed it by
Code:
sudo apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
now what? Please help. I want to use my computer again without going into recovery mode all the time.

I noticed I needed a minimal xorg.conf all of a sudden because the order had changed in which drivers are probed. The machine is currently down, but from memory it says

Code:
Section "Device"
  Identifier "Whatever"
  Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

Removing xorg driver is not necessary.

Instead you must blacklist nouveau kernel module from loading and remove it from initrd. Ask Ubuntu guys how to do that (e.g. on ubuntu forums or on irc://irc.freenode.net/ubuntu)

I had the same problem, so I just re-installed the Nvidia driver (as root) and reboot. That fixed it quick.
