I'm trying to run mplayer with VDPAU support and get the following error (It doens't matter which file I play):

Using a 2.6.32-bigmem kernel and the driver you get packaged for Debian Testing.

All other information should be in the debug-file.

Any help is appreciated. I just bought this Gigabyte GTX460OC 1Gb and now I can't use it the way I planed.

Default Re: GTX 460 and VDPAU problems.

I solved it myself... After some more digging in the documentation I realised that the GTX460 isn't really supported by the 195.36.31 driver.

I installed the driver from Debian Experimental (256.53) and now it's working.

mplayer is running with a CPU-usage of only 4-9%.

Default Re: GTX 460 and VDPAU problems.

I have found that VDPAU runs smooth on 460 only when composite desktop is disabled (disabled effects in KDE). Driver 260.19.12

I have to agree with you. turning desktop effects off is the only way to make it work. Same thing with the 256.53 driver.

Thumbs down Re: GTX 460 and VDPAU problems.

Problem with VDPAU persist with 260.19.21 when video played in windowed mode and composite effect are enabled in KDE.

Unhappy Re: GTX 460 and VDPAU problems.

Also with 260.19.26 VDPAU playback crashes on 460.

I was unable to reproduce this problem with version 260.19.29. VDPAU seems to play smooth with composition and windowed mode.
