It's k. Not as many FPS saved as one of the newer X-Fi 2 cards, but you wont even notice with a modern CPU. It doesn't outright fail it some games like the Xonar DX which some reviews should it dropping as much as 15FPS with random games like Bioshock.

The Auzentech X-Fi HomeTheater HD probably is the best you can get for gaming right now (strange as it's a HT card) but it's double, even triple the price compared to the cards just behind it. (D2X and Forte)

I have been wanting to get a dedicated sound card for gaming. With so many choices, it's hard to know what to get.

Yeah. I had the same problem, but I went with the Forte 7.1. It's got the newer X-Fi chip, DDL and DTS Connect, Alchemy for older games (Very handy for Max Payne I found), a nice headphone amp, upgradeable components and front port support (headphone amp works on them too) plus it's a slim PCIE card so it fits in with SLI a bit better.

Here's my new rig. Built, overclocked and tested for £30. System under £1600. Incredible deal!!! Cherry picked CPU for 4.7Ghz guaranteed aswell. Amazing service. The guy who built it from Aria was kind enough to post these pics on their forum. For the sake of £30, I couldn't refuse.

I agree, half of the fun of owning a rig is knowing that you put it together
