I am guessing the backplate wouldn't fit against the bottom of the case, because the opening for it wasn't the right shape. The backplate for my TRUE is actually touching the side of the opening.

I just bought a Haf-X myself to fit this Asus and 2600k. It has plenty of room behind it for the Megahalem mount.

I still use the TJ10 for the EVGA and Xeon.

I would have to say the Antec dark fleet series is a hell of a lot worse.

I cut the hafx thinking that in the future if I could change a cooler without taking out the board. It was a real pain and it looks bad but it all gets covered up and out of the way. I had an Akasa Eclipse case for many builds before this and it might have been prettier but this case if just awesome in every respect. I plan on keeping it for a long time. As far as the light goes, yeah top is the way to go I think.

The HAF series are great for builders, lots of functionality and room. Looks good.

Just an FYI for the next time you take that mobo out - a few inches of black, press on automobile door trim will give that cut a nice finished look, and protect your fingers from a potentially nasty cut.

true, i was at frys and microcenter on friday (two computer/electronics stores) 90-95% of cases in those stores are ugly beyond words. Haf series are one of the "better" ugly cases but still not good to look at.

why is that most computer bases seem to be build for 5-10 year old market with some weird horrible 1960s sci-fi B movie prop theme.

You're welcome.

I've used it on fan hole cuts - press it on, heat with a hair dryer so it forms to the cut...works out well for a quick, cheap fix.

Love the interior of that case btw. My HAF 932 is still going strong, but I never painted the interior - doesn't look near as clean as yours.

Thanks, I'm still in awe of the wires behind the motherboard thing

The HAF cases are great and very modern. But their design is a major drawback and flat out a deal-breaker.
