Do they have about the same level of noise on 100% fan speed? Or is one louder than the others?

I never had a 285, but I can tell you the stock 480 fan is brutal at 100%.
A good profile with afterburner would let you keep it lower though. |

100% fan speed on any card is atrocious IMO.

Well, as long as it's not like a hair blower/dryer than it shouldn't matter, right?

![]() My home office is upstairs. With Furmark, STALKER, or one or two others running, the fan can be heard in the living room at the bottom of the stairs. That's why I grabbed that AC Accelero XP as soon as I was able to get one. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...90&postcount=1 I did find though, that using a profile in afterburner, if I had it ramp up the fan to at least 60% when temps hit 60c or so and set the max fan % to 75-80%, temps would stay manageable and the noise was bearable. I think the default driver profile keeps the fan spinning slowly until the temps are through the roof. Keep the temps in check early on and you won't need 100%. |

Aye
What grey said. Manually setting the fan speed to 60% in EVGA Precision seems to be the magic number for gaming for these 570s. In less demanding games (Batman AA, Borderlands) temps don't hit 60c. In more demanding games (Crysis, STALKER CoP, Metro2033) temps don't hit 70c. But, that's when I remember to manually set it BEFORE I start gaming. Setting the fan speed to 50% is perfect for non-gaming. Cards stay between 31c and 35c depending on the room temp and the fan is pretty darn silent. If I forget to up the fan to 60% for gaming temps shoot above 95c after 45 minutes or so and the fan kicks up to 100% and it sounds like a hair dryer on high... I peed on the floor a little the first time it happened.
