hmm... looks like I'll wait for a proper SLI profile/fix and for some community graphics tweaks for the blur/bloom.

Still excited about it though. With any luck, the tire/realistic physics mods from the community will be swift.

This game runs great in 2D Surround, haven't tried it in 3D Surround yet though. Although it seems like the in-game AA option does nothing, as I still seem to get pretty heavy aliasing even with the AA on "high". Perhaps its just selective, like NFS:HP's anti-aliasing was at first.

I've been playing the game with my Driving Force GT. The cars feel a bit floaty, and of the few cars I've tried, the Lotus Exige was really twitchy especially. I never played the first NFS Shift though, so I don't know how it compares.

Don't think so. Even my Q9650 @ 4.2Ghz wasn't pushing constant 60fps. When I disabled two of my cores I was getting 45-30fps so I don't think there is anything you can do (especially if you have your E7500 @ 2.93Ghz. Might be a good idea to OC and see if you can gain any extra frames) . This game benefits from i5's/i7's architecture (pretty much like Brotherhood)

Been playing this for a few hours and been liking it. However, does anyone feel that the other racers play way to aggressive ie fly into you all the time?

No sir, I don't like it.

I loved shift 1... it is imo the best need for speed ever. The bastard child that came after it was such a total ****storm, and it makes me cry that people liked it.

So I was pretty excited to sit down with shift 2. Right off the bat I knew there was gonna be parts I didn't like...who is this faggot driver with the bad gotte? Narratives from bodiless teachers are fine.. but if you stick a celeb face into the game you have a good chance of pissing people off who don't like said celeb.

So jumping right in, I remember my first rule of thumb for shift, DON'T get frustrated on the first try! I'm no prodigy and I should expect to do badly on the first run. So after 1 or 2 presses of the retry key and I was getting first place. I do think the racing line has changed for the worse a little. It was badly tuned to the testing car and I found myself careening off the road despite being green on arrows.

So after a couple races I jump into upgraded.. uh oh... I shat you not, there are like 20-30 upgrade options for performance... with each section (exhaust for example) having 3. I'm sorry.. that's just to damn many when they all do the same damn thing! Any racing game where you spend more time in the tuning section then on the race track is not a racing game, its a tuning game!

So I grabbed some top speed boost and tire upgrades for handling. Next race up, my first night race. Already I notice what usually happens after I upgrade, I have jumped ahead of my peers and take a significant lead. Clean lap, lead for a lap go by, and I just turn in for the 3rd and I think final lap when all of a sudden fckn knight rider, I'm sorry, one of the computer opponents, shoots by me and I have no way in hell of catching up.. his top speed has doubled.

buh wha?! This is the awesomley skillful AI put into this new game? pfft.. you can keep it! I ran the race twice to cancel out a fluke.. no fluke. Approaching the finish line on the 2nd lap I saw this one dot quickly creepe on me and blast past me going into the 3rd lap. Thats a cheaten cpu!

Good game so far, nice car selection. only bad thing i can say so far is who the hell is that "driver" that keeps talking all the time.

who the hell started this stupid trend to have people talk in racing games. they really should have this type of information posted somewhere on the box/steam that while racing you have to lisen to some dude talking.

atleast its less annoying then some previous need for speed games.

It runs great at 5760x1080 with all options maxed. Still can't tell if high AA really does much at all though. There are a few strange bugs though. The rear view mirror on the Lotus is glitched in that it doesn't display a reflection at all, and is just blackened out. A few of the courses don't have a course layout image the race selection menu in Career mode, instead just having black box where the course map should be. I've also had a couple of crashes to desktop while in the car customization options

It's a lot more visceral than the previous racing game I played, GT5, and gives me a better sense of actually being in the car. But the cars are also feel alot more random in their handling, so the actual driving part feels a bit less satisfactory. Hopefully there will be a good set of mods out soon that I can try.

No SLI profile yet and there is a 'negative' impact if you try the profile from the first Shift.
