Hey guys,
I've been into computers and PC gaming for about 14 years now. Recently (the last 2 or 3) I haven't been as active. Therefore, I missed playing alot of the cutting edge games as they were being released. Well, now it seems there is a plethora of games at my fingertips and all for cheap! I was looking at the other thread on the Dead Space 2 footage and thought about checking out the first. It's $6.80 right now on Steam - haha! My whole point of this post, is that for me, by not picking up games as they were being released I saved myself (among other things): - money (most from 1-2 years ago are $10 or less now) - hardship & frustration with patches (initial releases are usually a little bumpy until patched) - playing crappy games (avoided wasting my money on crappy games) AND I have no shortage of what to play! There is no way possible for me to play and beat the old games faster than the new ones are coming out - therefore this cycle will continue for me for the foreseeable future. Good times. Now, what have I missed in the last couple of years?

Good times indeed, just look at this years bad boys:
Dead Space 2 Duke Nukem Forever Red Faction: Armageddon Rage Crysis 2 Batman: Arkham City Bulletstorm Fear 3 Dead Island (hopefully) Serious Sam 3 And probably some other great titles i´ve forgotten. As for what you might have missed the last couple of years... well, thats a lot! Played Capcom:s pc titles: Resident Evil 5, Bionic Commando, Dark Void and Lost Planet? Other titles you might enjoy: Bioshock 2, Riddick: AoDA, Wolfenstein, Timeshift, Fear 2, Crysis: Warhead, Far Cry 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum. All great games and you might have missed one or two ![]() Personally i´m catching up with some old games right now that i´ve saved for the PC upgrade.

I don't think you've missed much, most stuff is just re-hashed garbage, like tornadog stated just about everything being released this year is a sequel, I can't think of anything that has been innovative or has broken the mold over the last 2 years, some games I've enjoyed though:
NFS:HS Gothic 4 - not open ended any more but still kinda fun Mafia 2 All the Battlefield, COD games all feel the same to me with slightly different vistas, some jack wagon spewing orders for you to rush from point A to point B to save X from Y or some derivation... But on the horizon there's Elder Scrolls 5 - Skyrim in nov... I think over the last 20 or so years that I've been playing games I have not has this level of dis-interest with the exception of Skyrim, which was just announced a week or 2 ago... games are getting more and more dumbed down and consolized, it's rather depressing... 5 hours into Dead Space and I am on Chapter 4.
Great game - took a little time to remap some keys and figure out the mechanics, but it's definitely one of the best I have played. It's actually holding my attention. I do find myself getting scared or saying "Holy Sh*t!" every now and then ![]() Highly recommend it at $7 on Steam til tomorrow.

Gothic 4 - not open ended any more but still kinda fun - Really not a good game Mafia 2 - Really a short and demanding game with plastic characters and no free ride or extra missions/side missions. Noones gonna say Metro 2033? I think it's one of todays best games. Then ofc Stalker Call of Pripyat Assassins Creed 2 Bioshock 1 + 2 Fallout: New Vegas Mass effect 2 StarCraft 2 Fear 2 NFS: Shift God of war 3 Borderlands Bad company 2 Far cry 2 Crysis Warhead Brothers in arms 3 Team fortress 2 Portal Left 4 dead 2 Dirt 2 Grid GTAIV Sains Row 2 Resident evil 5 Dead rising 2 Splinter cell conviction Command & Conquer 4 Arma2 CoD games Lost Planet 2 The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena Turok Burnout Paradise, NecroVisioN That's a good start. I hope you haven't missed obvious ones as HL2, Farcry, TES4 Oblivion, Doom 3 etc...

Guys - thanks for all the responses!
Great inputs. I just finished Dead Space I and thought it was pretty smooth, innovative and fun! I would rate it as 8.5/10 - definitely worth the $6.80 it cost me on Steam. The whole intent of getting a list from 2008 - 2010 is because I can probably find those games on the cheap. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of disposable income at this point. Regards, P
