So you think you have a powerful processor ? we'll see about that after you run this benchy!
this phun sandbox seems to put more stress on the CPU than Crysis!! Instructions : A) Download Phun Physics Sandbox here (its only 2mb!) : http://www.phun.at/ B) Open program & load "circles" scene C) Now check this screenshot & do the following steps : ![]() D) Set you window at a res of 1280x1024 (or something close i dont think it matters that much) & make sure all options are checked exactly like in the screenshot (simple water rendering unchecked) & zoom as shown above. D1) right click & select the option "liquify selected" for circle no.1 D2) Repeat the same for circle no.2 D3) Click the play button as shown in no.3 E) Wait for a few seconds as the liquid pours down through the circles & recored your lowest framerate (minimum) & post it along with your CPU specs. So far i've got a min.fps of 3fps using a P4:3GHz & a min.fps of 9-10fps using a C2Q Q6600@3Ghz (i.e. Q6600@3Ghz is around 3.5 times faster than an oldie Northwood P4:3Ghz) now dont be ashamed to post your results! bring it on! ![]()

I think this program has some problems with CPU usage.
I noticed that has some incredible slow downs some times, and it can't possibly be more complex than something like Gary's mod for Half-Life 2, which runs far better and is 3D. I just ran your test and the lowest I hit was 13fps. Task Manager showed up to 67% CPU usage. Around 70% on core 0 and 60% on core 1. The strange thing is, the simulation doesn't even have to be running for it to put a heavy load on the CPU. This is a really cool program but I think the physics engine itself could be a lot better. Something like this programmed with PhysX and GPU accelerated physics would be amazing. ![]()

Thanks for this link. This is a really cool application. Now I can see how well my new AMD quad core is performing. I am really curious about this, since I have not noticed a huge increase in performance since I upgraded. It would be nice to see what the actually stats are. I am looking to buy a new graphics card, am wondering if it would be worth my effort to check out hhgregg? Never been there, so I'm not really sure. Thanks.
